Summary Administers selected respiratory care therapies and services after satisfactory completion of specific competencies for the therapies, verified in writing by an AMA approved Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Program and after completion of a hospital and department specific orientation. NOTE: Performs only those responsibilities identified in department policy (Levels and Procedure Responsibilities of Personnel).
Minimum Education
Student in good standing in an AMA approved Respiratory Therapist Program.
Minimum Work Experience
Valid Ohio license to practice Respiratory Care under supervision (limited permit), granted by the Ohio Respiratory Care Board (ORCB).
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Current list of approved competencies from AMA approved therapist (RRT) program.
Required Skills Knowledge
Ability to work in a multi-skilled team environment.
Ability to complete specific assigned work duties with supervision.
Ability to position and adjust specific equipment for which a competency has been completed.
Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians and other hospital employees.
Ability to demonstrate effective time management with daily schedule, individual treatment sessions and non-patient care time.
Population-Specific Competency: Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity.
