Summary A Bartender is responsible for providing exceptional customer service by preparing and serving beverages, taking food orders, and delivering meals to guests in a timely and efficient manner. This role requires a strong understanding of drink recipes, food menu items, and the ability to create a welcoming atmosphere for guests.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Mix, garnish, and serve a variety of alcoholic and non‑alcoholic drinks according to recipes and customer preferences.

Take accurate food and beverage orders from guests, ensuring special requests and dietary restrictions are noted.

Deliver food orders to guests promptly, ensuring accuracy and presentation standards are met.

Provide exceptional service by engaging with guests in a friendly, professional manner, making recommendations, and addressing any concerns.

Monitor and manage inventory of bar supplies, restocking as necessary, and communicating low stock levels to management.

Maintain a clean and organized bar and dining area, including washing glasses, cleaning tables, and sanitizing equipment.

Accurately process payments, handle cash, and operate the point of sale (POS) system.

Adhere to all local and state alcohol serving laws and regulations, including verifying the age of customers.

Work closely with other staff members, including kitchen staff and other servers, to ensure seamless service.

Assist in setting up and serving during special events or busy periods, ensuring customer satisfaction.

Requirements & Qualifications

Previous experience as a bartender or server in a restaurant or bar setting is preferred.

Familiarity with a wide range of drink recipes and the ability to mix drinks accurately and quickly. Understanding of food menu items and pairing recommendations.

Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to engage positively with guests. Strong multitasking and organizational skills.

Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy items (such as kegs and trays), and perform physically demanding tasks.

Current ‘Beer Savvy’ Beer Server Certification; Possession of a bartending license or certification may be required depending on the location. Food handling certification may also be required.

Ability to work in close quarters and keep pace during high volume shifts

Reliable transportation to and from workplace

Flexibility to work unconventional hours – nights & weekends required
