Overview
Location: 5010 Solid Waste & Recycling Pay Grade: A03 FLSA Status: Non-exempt Under general supervision and or lead direction, collects refuse, green waste, recycling or bulky waste for processing or disposal. *This position performs duties deemed to be “safety sensitive" and is therefore subjected to random drug testing under the City’s policies* Responsibilities
Loads refuse, trash, and brush into a refuse collection truck. Rakes trash and brush into piles and loads into packer. Cleans solid waste & recycling truck after completing daily route. Performs routine maintenance on solid waste & recycling truck. Operates packing mechanism. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Requires an ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations, with no experience required; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Tasks involve the ability to exert exceptionally strong physical effort in very heavy work, typically involving some combination of balancing, climbing, crouching, feeling, handling, hearing, kneeling, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, talking, visual acuity, walking and which involves some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (up to 150 pounds). Must submit to drug screening and fitness to work physical.
