Base Pay & Salary
Base Pay Range: $4,848.00/year. Anticipated starting salary: $4,848.00/year; full range $4,651.00 to $6,217.00. This position is a union position; provisions of the relevant collective bargaining agreement apply.

Work Hours 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m., 11:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.; shift and days off vary.

Essential Functions
Receive eight weeks of formalized pre-service security training at the Illinois Corrections Training Academy, including firearms training.
Receive on-the-job training under immediate supervision of a qualified correctional employee.
Assisted a correctional employee each work week in running lines, yard, dining room, housing units, facility buildings, writs, observing individuals in custody, perimeter patrol, armory, counting, shakedowns, movement, etc.
Travel by using a state-issued vehicle to complete assignments.
Receive one week orientation at facility.
Given formal training in housing unit work, report writing, out-count work, yard work, running lines, individuals in custody at this institution, chain-of-command, security buildings, disciplinary procedures, and any other training deemed necessary.
Perform other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
Equivalence to completion of four years of high school.
Elementary knowledge of resident behavior problems.
Conditions of Employment
Completion of a pre-service security training course during trainee period.
Successful completion of a firearms training course and proper use of firearms during trainee period.
Valid driver's license and ability to travel statewide.
Eligibility under federal and state law to acquire and possess a firearm; possession or ability to obtain a FOID card.
Utilization of digital technology, tools, platforms, and processes in managing and supporting digital enhancements.
Passage of an IDOC/IDJJ background check.
Passage of a drug screen; prohibited use of unauthorized drugs.
Abide by all vaccine and/or other medical standards as set out by the employer.
