Behaviors Mentor positions are available at the Chester County Intermediate Unit within the Student Services Division at the Child & Career Development Center – Great Valley Campus, Malvern, PA. Summary The primary role of the Behavior Mentor is to implement proactive, evidence‑based strategies with students and staff. The mentor collaborates with classroom staff to implement Positive Behavior Support Plans, collect data on IEP goals and interventions, and communicate trends to staff. The mentor works in conjunction with the Behavior Analyst.

Responsibilities

Assist Students

Implement universal expectations and provide individualized modifications for students with specific programming.

Provide opportunities to reinforce and practice newly taught replacement behaviors.

Generalize learned replacement behaviors to new learning environments.

Implement personal emergency interventions when students place themselves or others at imminent risk.

Assist the Teacher

Serve as liaison between the Behavior Consultant/Behavior Analyst to ensure classroom staff implement PBSPs with fidelity.

Model proactive, evidence‑based strategies for classroom staff.

Collect data on current goals, interventions, discipline referrals, and ABC data for Functional Behavior Assessments.

Generate data tracking systems to graphically represent student progress.

Maintain paperwork for each student to support staff collaboration: IEP overview, personal information, PBSP highlights, goal tracking sheets, and data tools such as ABC sheets or DBR scales.

Arrange the learning environment for student success.

Assist with data collection and tracking

Represent collected data graphically.

Enter daily data into the Skill Card Database templates.

Enter discipline referrals into the Student Information System.

Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

High school diploma required.

Associate’s degree in a related field preferred.

Bachelor’s degree in education or psychology preferred.

Experience working with students with significant emotional and behavioral needs and ability to relate well to adolescents desired.

Experience working in schools.

Experience working with community agencies servicing children.

Professional Certifications

Registered Behavior Technician certification (opportunity to earn upon hiring).

Safety Care certification (opportunity to earn upon hiring).

Schedule Monday‑Friday, 7.5 hours/day, 210 days/year.

Salary Support, Band 12. Salary is based on years of direct experience in a comparable role.

Location Child & Career Development Center – Great Valley, 40 Moores Rd, Malvern, PA 19355.
