Utility Custodian, Evening Discover an exciting opportunity to support Purdue University’s campus as an Evening Utility Custodian.

What You’ll Be Doing

Work independently under limited supervision, providing custodial and specialized cleaning support to cover vacancies and supplement work crews anywhere on campus.

Respond to customer needs and requests, relying on personal judgment and application of previous experience and established practices and procedures.

Respond to campus crisis situations to enhance public safety and minimize infrastructure damage.

Respond to emergency calls and assist with snow and ice removal.

May work in restricted access areas requiring highly specialized procedures, training, or certification.

Schedule:

Monday‑Friday, 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm

Hourly Pay:

$17.50 plus a shift differential of $0.70 for a total of $18.20

What We’re Looking For Education and Experience

High school diploma/GED.

At least 18 months of custodial experience with three years of total work experience.

Must have completed the Building Services Custodial Development Program, or be enrolled in the program within 90 days of hire.

Skills Needed

Ability to supervise and train small (3‑10) groups.

Strong written and verbal English communication skills.

Basic mathematics and computer proficiency.

Good work organization ability.

Knowledge of policies and procedures regarding building maintenance and security.

Working knowledge of power and non‑powered floor care equipment.

Personal protective equipment will be required during specific work duties as determined by the department.

Ability to lift and carry 25‑50 lbs. frequently, and up to 60 lbs. occasionally.

Ability to work efficiently and professionally in a fast‑paced and diverse team setting.

Will work outdoors 10% of the time in temperatures below 32 °F or above 90 °F.

A valid U.S. or Canadian driver's license.
