Job Summary To instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. At the same time, the coach must instruct and demonstrate behaviors that lead to socially acceptable character development, self‑discipline, self‑confidence, and pride of accomplishment in the student athletes. The coach should upgrade his/her knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, consultation, etc.

Essential Functions

Organize and supervise the total sports program.

Enjoy the sport and work with this age level.

Teach and demonstrate skill development and advanced technique.

Assist in coordinating and assisting an off‑season program.

Collaborate with local recreation programs to increase participation.

Act as a positive role model.

Maintain reliable attendance.

Qualifications

Coaching endorsement or certification.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Thorough knowledge of all athletic policies.

Substantial knowledge of technical aspects of the sport.

Knowledge of existing system, state and league regulations; implements consistently and interprets for staff.

Good communication skills.

Understands administrative line of command and refers requests through proper channels.

Awareness of all required meetings.

Travel Requirements

Travel to district buildings and sporting events as required.

Physical Requirements • Mobility – occasional operation of computer and stationary positions. • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, operate motor vehicle as required.

Working Conditions District office hours, evenings and weekends during the season; outdoor sports such as football, cross‑country, soccer, track, baseball, softball, tennis and golf; indoor sports such as basketball, wrestling, swimming and volleyball.
