Senior Environmental Scientist – Environmental Services (Oklahoma City) We are seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Scientist to lead environmental assessments and compliance for projects ranging from power generation to renewable energy, oil & gas, industrial sites, and water treatment facilities at Burns & McDonnell.

Responsibilities

Lead and oversee environmental assessments, support environmental compliance efforts, prepare permitting applications, and analyze environmental data for a variety of projects, including power generation, electrical transmission construction, oil & gas activities, renewable projects, industrial sites, and water treatment facilities.

Strong regulatory and technical understanding of construction compliance, facility, and corporate-level environmental permitting and compliance auditing.

Lead as Project Manager for technical reports such as Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs), Erosion and Sediment Control Plans (ESCs), Vegetation and Soil Management Plans (VSMPs), Environmental Management Plans (EMPs), Spill Prevention Control & Countermeasure (SPCC) plans, Facility Response Plans (FRPs), Hazardous Waste Management (RCRA), environmental field studies, and environmental compliance training.

Prepare a wide variety of permitting applications – storm water, floodplain, land use, local permits – ensuring compliance with NPDES, Clean Water Act (CWA), and other local environmental regulations.

Lead environmental site investigations, support erosion control efforts, and conduct subsurface soil sampling.

Understand environmental and non-environmental permitting for construction projects.

Build, establish, and maintain client relationships.

Perform any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Water Quality, Geology, Biology, Soil Science, Environmental Engineering, or related natural science from an accredited program.

At least 8 years of experience in environmental consulting.

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication of technical information.

Experience overseeing environmental site assessment methods.

Experience overseeing environmental compliance and compliance audits.

Experience overseeing environmental permitting processes.

Working knowledge of ArcGIS.

Proficiency with computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Valid driver’s license and meet company motor vehicle safety policy requirements.

The position is full‑time with 25 % travel. The role is located in Oklahoma City, OK. This posting will remain open for at least 72 hours and for the duration of the search until filled.
