Human Resources Assistant
HOMEWOOD-FLOSSMOOR COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT 233, Flossmoor, Illinois, United States, 60422
Human Resources Assistant – Immediate start, 12‑month full‑time, 7:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m., $29.00 / hour
Candidate will provide administrative support to the Human Resources Office, maintaining accurate employee resources, assisting with the recruitment and hiring process, onboarding, offboarding, managing internal and external communications, and supporting key HR areas. The role requires high organization, self‑motivation, prioritization, accuracy, strong communication and collaboration skills, and maintaining confidentiality. A service‑oriented approach is essential.
Responsibilities
Provide general administrative support: preparing correspondence, forms and reports, arranging meetings, processing confidential documents, filing, and tracking deadlines
Deliver exceptional customer service to staff
Ensure strict confidentiality of all staff and school information
Submit and manage online job postings
Act as liaison between the district and colleges/universities for student‑teacher placements/interships
Assist with employee onboarding and offboarding
Track and assist with new employee background screenings and employment verification
Maintain accuracy of department spreadsheets
Coordinate orientation and training sessions for new employees
Review lane advancement requests from certified staff
Collaborate with departments and personnel to ensure personnel needs are met and employee engagement efforts are maintained
Manage sensitive and confidential matters such as personnel relations, employee relations, and organizational changes, protecting the security of information, data and files
Assist with credentialing, auditing, licenses and inspections
Maintain employee files and ensure they are up‑to‑date
Contribute to team effort by assisting with projects as needed
Requirements
High school diploma; college degree preferred
Familiarity with HRIS systems (Skyward) highly preferred
Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access), PowerSchool, and building/student‑management systems
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong attention to detail
Sense of urgency with ability to multitask under pressure
High level of confidentiality
Previous experience in a human resources or administrative support role
