Job Title Boiler Operator

Department Energy Services

Salary $49,942 - $61,678; commensurate with experience

Job Summary/Basic Function Operate, maintain, and adjust boilers, turbines, pumps, compressors, and other ancillary related equipment for a centralized boiler plant at a large university. This position will work in a centralized power plant, industrial type environment as well as large machine rooms in other buildings that have standby boiler systems. This position is shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays. On occasion operators will be assigned to perform preventative maintenance tasks on support equipment to hot water heating systems throughout the campus.

Required Education High School diploma or High School Equivalency (HSE) required. Required to complete an in-house training class for boiler operation and safety within 90 days of employment led by the Assistant Supervisor of the Boiler Shop as well as completion of 80 hours supervised on the job training of operation of boiler within 90 days of employment.

Required Related Experience Related experience working with complex machinery.

Required License/Registration/Certification Valid driver's license required.
