Property Description Rodeo Dunes is a public golf resort developed by Michael Keiser on over 4,000 acres of sand dunes. It will be a world‑class golf destination with courses designed by Bill Coore & Ben Crenshaw and Jimmy Craig. Construction began in summer 2024.
Position Summary As a Mechanic, you will maintain Rodeo Dunes’ maintenance equipment. You will lead a team of technicians, perform repairs and diagnostics, and keep machinery operating efficiently to support smooth operation of the golf courses.
What You’ll Be Doing
Equipment Maintenance & Repair: Perform daily inspections, maintenance, and repairs on various golf course machinery, including mowers, utility vehicles, and specialized equipment, ensuring all tools and machinery function at optimal performance.
Troubleshooting & Repairs: Utilize diagnostic tools and mechanical expertise to identify and address issues with engine, hydraulic, and electrical systems. Perform necessary repairs to maintain equipment functionality.
Reel & Cutting Adjustments: Adjust and replace reels, modify cutting heights, and ensure quality turf maintenance and desired cut quality across the course.
Grinding & Sharpening: Ensure turf quality by grinding and sharpening cutting units for precise mowing and a consistent cut.
Shop & Tool Management: Maintain an organized, clean, and safe shop environment, ensuring all equipment and tools are ready for use.
Collaboration & Communication: Work in close coordination with the Equipment Manager and fellow technicians to address course equipment needs. Communicate effectively with other departments to anticipate upcoming needs and provide proactive maintenance solutions.
Training & Mentorship: Assist in training equipment operators and technicians on machinery operation, safety protocols, and maintenance practices. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff to develop their skills.
Custom Fabrication: Perform in‑house repairs and fabricate custom components to reduce reliance on external vendors, saving time and operational costs.
Budget & Inventory Management: Support the tracking and management of the repair and maintenance budget, including inventory of parts, oils, fuel, and consumables.
Winter Maintenance & Equipment Preparation: Assist with preparing equipment for the off‑season and ensure readiness for the next season by performing necessary maintenance and repairs.
Facility Management: Help maintain an organized, safe, and efficient work environment, ensuring that all equipment storage areas are free of hazards and conducive to efficient workflow.
Fleet & Equipment Tracking: Monitor and track equipment usage, maintenance schedules, and parts inventory using fleet management systems to ensure smooth operational flow.
What You Bring To The Team
Experience: 5+ years in equipment repair and maintenance, ideally in the golf or resort industry.
Expertise: Demonstrated mechanical proficiency, troubleshooting expertise, and ability to assess and repair complex equipment systems with minimal supervision. Strong knowledge of gas, diesel, 2-cycle engines, electrical systems, and hydraulics.
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with team members, other departments, and vendors.
Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 100 lbs. and perform physical tasks such as operating heavy machinery and working in varying positions (standing, bending, kneeling) for extended periods.
Licenses & Certification: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Additional Skills: Familiarity with golf course equipment, strong mentoring and training skills, and the ability to prioritize and manage tasks effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
Machine/Equipment/Tools Used
Utility vehicles, mowing equipment, sprayers, tractors, loaders, company vehicles, heavy machinery, equipment lifts, grinding equipment, welders, and a variety of hand and air tools.
