Job Description The basic functions of a Sprinkler Fitter include installation, maintenance, and repair of automatic sprinkler systems. This involves working with pipes, fittings, valves and other components to ensure the system is installed correctly and operates properly. Ideal candidates are customer‑focused, able to work both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and specifications to determine layout and installation of sprinkler systems.

Measure and cut pipes to required length, installing them with fittings and connectors.

Install valves, alarms, and other sprinkler components.

Test the system for leaks and ensure correct operation.

Perform routine maintenance, replacing worn or damaged components as needed.

Troubleshoot and repair sprinkler systems, identifying and recommending solutions to complex problems.

Communicate with customers and stakeholders to provide updates, answer questions, and resolve issues.

Ensure compliance with local, state, federal codes and industry best practices.

Maintain accurate records of work performed, including labor and materials costs, and prepare reports.

Follow safety protocols and maintain a safe working environment.

Stay organized, motivated and a team player.

Follow direction and work independently when needed.

Other duties as assigned.

Lift up to 70 lbs, punctual and reliable.

Operate threading machines, battery‑operated hand tools and basic hand tools safely.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum 3 years independent field experience.

Experience with fire protection systems and components.

Mechanically inclined with strong attention to detail.

Valid driver’s license.

Positive attitude and willingness to obtain progressive certifications and NFPA permitting/licensing.

Preferred intermediate sprinkler layout understanding.

Accurate and timely record‑keeping, written and electronic.

Willingness to work hard and learn.

Complete required paperwork thoroughly.

Deliver excellent customer service.

Problem‑solving skills as part of a team and independently.

Minimal supervision required.

Practice safe work practices per OSHA requirements.

Self‑starter.

Physical Requirements

Perform physical labor, carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 70 lbs.

Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling and work in confined spaces.

Work in unusual positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, high‑lift equipment up to 60 ft, ducts, crawl spaces and above ceilings.

Read and understand construction blueprints, diagrams and specifications.

Work flexible hours.
