General Purpose Responsible for ensuring all sorting activities are aligned with Smurfit Westrock’s AQL Standards, acceptable defect tolerances, and customer specifications prior to releasing for shipment. The QC Sorting Inspector will report directly to the Quality Control Lead and ultimately the site’s Quality Manager. The QC Sorting Inspector will collect data for products being sorted, including hours spent and scrap quantities, to ensure inventory accuracy. The QC Sorting Inspector will prioritize sorting activities as directed by the Quality Lead and site Quality Manager to ensure timely release of sorted material for shipment to meet the customer’s demands.

General knowledge and understanding of all manufacturing processes

The ability to read and understand customer specifications

Follows all standard operating procedures relevant to the job, position, and department

Follows instructions accurately

Maintains records of daily activities and results, using specified forms

Keeps work area neat and clean

Performs other job duties as assigned

Qualifications

Knowledge of the folding carton manufacturing process

Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, customer specifications, and quality procedures

Must have basic computer skills – data entry

Must be able to perform basic arithmetic including additions, subtraction, multiplication and division

Must be able to maintain good attendance

Must pass color vision test

Must pass color hue test

Must be able to use rulers, calipers, micrometers and all other testing equipment

Must have ability to recognize common packaging defects (cracking, sharpness, heavy scores, line‑up, tearing, flat scores, one‑sided scores, light cutting, loose fibers, pressure marks, etc.)

Must be willing to work overtime as needed; significant overtime may be required during busy periods

Must be able to perform all essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
