Base Pay Range $12.00/hr - $12.00/hr

Special Instructions to Applicants Please attach your resume & spring semester class schedule. Preference given to students that are available during winter break for training prior to the beginning of spring semester.

Responsibilities

Operates transportation services for students, faculty/staff and visitors of Ohio University to include scheduled university routes, on-demand transportation resources, accessibility transport & special event accommodations.

Provides superior customer service and safe, efficient transport to customers with adherence to all university, state, and federal laws and regulations. Assists with the handling of equipment/luggage, materials & supplies. Performs routine vehicle inspection activities and maintains proper transportation documentation to ensure compliance with all position requirements.

Responsible for cleaning, inspecting and general maintenance duties associated with university fleet to include washing and fueling of vehicles.

This position's focus is to provide excellent customer service and safe efficient and reliable transport to customers with adherence to all university state and federal laws and regulations.

Position will be required to work with scheduling software at times and should exhibit a willingness to learn new technologies.

This position includes morning as well as evening shift opportunities (7am-6pm).

Training in each vehicle type will be provided. Position is contingent upon passing all aspects of departmental driver training course.

Job Profile Operates campus transit vehicles, providing safe and efficient transportation for students and staff. Responsibilities include ensuring vehicle maintenance, adhering to schedules, and assisting passengers as needed. Requires United States Class D license with demonstrated safe driving record.

Level Summary Performs basic tasks and assists with administrative or operational duties under supervision. Roles are entry-level and aimed at providing exposure to workplace environments.

Supervisory Responsibilities Limited supervisory responsibilities. May supervise other student workers.

Fiscal Responsibilities No budgetary responsibility.

Problem Solving Addresses routine, well-defined problems under supervision.

Independence of Action Works under close supervision.

Communication and Collaboration Communicates primarily with supervisor and peers. Collaborates with team members to accomplish tasks.

Minimum Qualifications Enrolled for classes at Ohio University, Hocking College, another post‑secondary education institution, or a secondary school during the current semester, immediate previous semester, or immediate upcoming semester. Able to follow instructions and complete tasks within deadlines. Basic knowledge of office software and communication tools. Departments may have specific minimum requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

Must be a current student enrolled at Ohio University or Hocking College (undergrad minimum 6 credit hours, grad minimum 5 credit hours) or attend a local high school or secondary school during the normal academic year.

Must have a valid United States Class D license in good standing with a demonstrated safe driving record.

Must be flexible with work hours, shifts are built around your class schedule.

Positive & professional attitude with good customer service and communication abilities.

Time management skills are extremely important to remain on schedule and meet daily transit needs.

Have a good record of being dependable and punctual at work and school.

Working Conditions / Physical Demands Long periods of standing and crouching to detail fleet vehicles in the garage. Long periods of sitting, operating shuttle / van while driving preassigned routes or on-demand pickup & drop off.

Pay Rate $12.00 / hour
