Description HEAT TREAT OPERATOR

Purpose Sets up, runs, and monitors furnaces/ovens to harden, anneal, or temper aluminum parts. Following work orders to adjust temperatures and times, loading/unloading equipment, cleaning, and performing basic maintenance and system accuracy test, all while strictly following safety protocols and documenting processes

Education and Experience

Minimum of 2 years of knowledge and experience in heat treatment preferred

Previous experience in aerospace manufacturing preferred

Position Responsibilities

Equipment Operation : Operate furnaces, ovens, quench tanks; adjust controls for temperature, and cycle times.

Material Handling : Load and unload parts into equipment, often using forklifts or cranes; prepare parts and fixtures for processing.

Process Monitoring : Read work orders, monitor gauges/charts, and adjust settings to meet specifications and internal requirements

Documentation : Record operational data, process parameters, and results as applicable.

Safety Compliance : Adhere to all safety procedures, wear PPE as required, and operate equipment safely

Tasks

Follow established policies and procedures to ensure effective heat treatment operations are met

Perform basic equipment inspection and maintenance.

Weekly system accuracy tests

Facilitate monthly Temperature Uniformity Surveys

Solution Heat Treatment of parts including quench

Precipitation (age) hardening of parts

Loading and unloading ovens

Rinsing of quenchant

Ensure compliance with internal procedures including using calibrated equipment for measuring and monitoring.

Utilization of electronic furnace logs

Performs other duties as assigned
