Maintenance Technician - Rotating Shifts

Howmet’s Houston Extrusion Plant (77061) focuses on converting specialty metals into value added extrusions for the aerospace and defense industries. The Maintenance Technician supports production operations by inspecting, monitoring, repairing, and maintaining the operation of all production equipment and plant systems.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of production equipment and plant systems.
High voltage (480V and above) maintenance work and mechanical maintenance on our equipment.
Performs preventative maintenance in accordance with written instructions.
Communicates equipment concerns with operators, supervisors, and other maintenance personnel to diagnose and repair issues.
Document status and completion of work orders and projects via use of a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Documents spare parts condition, inventory levels, and usage via CMMS.
Maintains clean work area and organized toolbox.
Follow work schedules and standard work practices and procedures.
Follow all safety procedures LOTO / PPE / Confined Space / Hot Work Permits / Fall Protection.
Support the Maintenance Manager in meeting department goals and objectives.
Support the Quality Management System.
Complies with all EHS rules required for the work environment and ensures all environmental & safety policies are followed.
Effectively communicating with others within and outside the workgroup.
Own cost savings initiatives (degrees of implementation).
Ability to read and react to verbal and non-verbal communication while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Metals processing necessitates the use of induction heaters and gas furnaces; as such, the manufacturing floor is unconditioned with few exceptions, the office areas and break areas are climate controlled.
Rotating shift assignments based on production plan; starting 1st shift.
Must be flexible; able to work extended hours and weekends when required.
All tools and training provided. Training is completed on Day shift.
Reports directly to Maintenance Supervisor.
