Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Responsibilities

The Senior Social Worker is assigned to the Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Clinical Team (PCT), General Outpatient Program within Mental Health Service. Functions as a member of the PTSD team and provides care to Veterans and is responsible for providing treatment services for PTSD patients as related to their experience of trauma. Provide a full range of psychological assessment services and diagnoses of mental disorders, particularly for complex patients. Provide education to patients, family members, and significant others. Deliver comprehensive, evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions, including individual, family, and group psychotherapy (e.g., Motivational Interviewing, CBT, CPT, EMDR, PE, mindfulness training, stress reduction, and health behavior management groups) as indicated. Consult with professional staff within VA Medical Center at Memphis and with community providers regarding clinical assessment findings and appropriate treatment plans with objective and measurable goals. Develop, implement, and document the psychotherapeutic treatment plan for an assigned caseload, including prompt completion of clinical reminders. Function independently as a member of the VA Medical Center at Memphis Medical Staff with full clinical privileges. Assume responsibility for clinical assessment findings, patient care decisions, and documentation. Assist the PTSD Team (PCT) coordinator in the design, development, and implementation of clinical programs addressing the needs of Veterans with PTSD. Adhere to operational policies and procedures for the PCT established by the Chief of Mental Health Service. Assist in ongoing program evaluation and data-driven quality improvement projects to monitor the effectiveness of the clinical program. Facilitate liaison with other medical center programs to coordinate services for Veterans with PTSD. Comply with national and local performance measures, including timely health care screening and completion of clinical reminders for all patients. Comply with CPRS documentation procedures, including timeliness standards for documentation and proper patient checkout procedures. Attend and participate in administrative and informational meetings as required. Work Schedule and Benefits

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, tour negotiable. Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): May be authorized for highly qualified candidates. Permanent Change of Station (Relocation Assistance): May be authorized for highly qualified candidates. EDRP Authorized: Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply for incentive. Pay: Competitive salary with regular increases; higher step rate may be determined after considering higher or unique qualifications or special needs of VA. Paid Time Off: 37–50 days per year (13–26 days annual leave, 13 days sick leave, 11 federal holidays). Parental Leave: Up to 12 weeks after 12 months of employment. Child Care Subsidy: For eligible families meeting income criteria after 60 days of employment. Retirement: Traditional federal pension and federal 401K with contributions by VA. Applicants pending education or certification/licensure completion may be referred but not hired until requirements are met. Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship; English language proficiency as per 38 U.S.C. 7403(f). Education: Master’s degree in Social Work from an accrediting program (CSWE). Doctoral degree cannot substitute for the Master’s. Lodgement/Certification: Senior social workers must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level with the ability to provide supervision for licensure; grandfathering provisions may apply per VA standards. Grade Determinations: Senior Social Worker GS-12 with at least two years of post-advanced practice experience; demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) in advanced practice, consultation, program development, and outcome measurement. KSAs include expertise in interventions and treatment modalities, differential diagnosis within privileges, program evaluation, and policy development.
