Overview:
CG Automation & Fixture is seeking a Saw Operator for an entry‑level position with no prior experience required. The role includes training and, upon successful evaluation, participation in an Apprenticeship Program that provides company‑paid coursework at Grand Rapids Community College and on‑the‑job training toward a journeyman’s card.
Key Responsibilities:
Program, operate, and tend saws and machines to cut material, adjusting machine speed and tension.
Adjust saw blades using hand wheels, pedals, levers, panel buttons, wrenches, and rulers.
Determine saw and cutting procedures based on QATS or supervisor instructions.
Count, sort, and stack finished work pieces; dispose of waste material.
Inspect material for imperfections and scrap as needed.
Replace defective or worn blades and bands with hand tools.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Label raw material, work in progress, and finished goods clearly.
Comply with PPE, lock‑out, and all other safety requirements.
Meet local, state, and federal regulations: OSHA, MIOSHA, EEO, DOT.
Qualifications & Abilities:
Effective communication and conflict resolution skills.
Strong math and computer skills.
Mechanical aptitude.
Willingness to work overtime as needed.
Ability to lift 25 pounds regularly.
Manufacturing/production experience preferred.
High school diploma or GED required.
Work Environment:
Manufacturing office environment with frequent exposure to production areas. Requires wearing standard protective equipment, including safety shoes, glasses, gloves, and hard hats. Standing or walking for extended periods may be required.
Salary:
$17–$19 per hour.
