Maintenance Technician – Wayland, MI (Weekend / 1st Shift) Join

as a Maintenance Technician on the 1st shift/Weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday 6:00 am‑6:00 pm, 40 hrs). The role involves routine and emergency mechanical and electrical maintenance on all machines and equipment, diagnosing problems, and repairing equipment as needed.

Weekend schedule:

Friday, Saturday, Sunday 6:00 am‑6:00 pm (40 hrs). No additional pay requirement.

Responsibilities

Diagnose situations or problems, plan, and schedule preventive maintenance to prevent breakdowns.

Make repairs or improvements to machines/equipment and perform basic electrical repairs.

Install, remove, fabricate, alter, and rebuild machines/equipment to achieve desired results and comply with code requirements.

Construct, alter, and repair tools, fixtures, gauges, machine attachments, and mechanisms ensuring proper fit, alignment, calibration, and completion of work.

Operate equipment to ensure effectiveness of repairs and safe operation.

Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and machine manuals.

Fabricate parts and machine equipment using lathe, mill, drill press, welder, brake, and other tools.

Operate testing equipment, powered hand tools, torches, welders, and precision measuring equipment.

Assist other maintenance members and serve as a resource to engineering and management.

Provide project leadership on major installation or revision of machines and equipment at other MEC facilities.

Operate a PC to create work requests, order parts, and access historical work order information.

Contact suppliers or manufacturers regarding part information, repair issues, improvements, and shipping instructions.

Maintain current knowledge and skills in all maintenance/repair crafts and duties, including basic electronic/electrical knowledge and repair.

Maintain knowledge of all maintenance/repair equipment and test instruments, including material handling equipment, manlifts, voltage testers, small tools, welders, and fabrication equipment.

Climb ladders/machinery, stoop, crouch, twist, kneel, crawl, and walk to access repair areas while handling tools and parts, lifting materials weighing over 60 lbs.

Operate maintenance equipment, including company vehicles, material handling equipment, and manlifts up to 60 ft.

Complete appropriate paperwork and maintain all equipment and computer documentation.

Ensure and maintain safety and cleanliness of equipment, department, plant, and worksite.

Coordinate with other maintenance personnel across all shifts to ensure jobs are completed.

Work independently.

Qualifications

Journeyman or equivalent preferred.

Understanding of European electrical print a plus.

Strong electrical background preferred (480 V & control wiring).

Complete understanding of robotic cells and stamping presses.

Complete set of trade tools.

Valid powered industrial truck operator permit and state driver’s license.
