About The Team The Alfred Gastroenterology Department is responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of patients with suspected or established gastrointestinal and liver disease, including diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. Clientele include inpatients admitted electively or via the Emergency Department, as well as outpatients managed in the clinics listed below.

About The Role The position involves responsibility for all aspects of the coordination of service delivery via the centralised computer booking system for clinic and procedural bookings as well as Medicare billing, preparation of and procedural sessions and follow up requirements for highly specialised clinics. The Gastroenterology Department Clinical Services Centre provides Gastroenterological procedures including Fibroscan, Video Capsule Endoscopy, Carbohydrate Breath Testing, intestinal ultrasound, oesophageal & pH manometry and anorectal physiology.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure the clinics and procedural sessions run smoothly and efficiently

Review incoming referrals for triage by consultants/nurse manager

Use Cerner Scheduler booking programme to schedule clinic appointments

Attend to patient queries by phone and in person; triage to appropriate staff as needed

Preparation of clinics

Check in and make follow-up appointments for patients on clinic days

Reorganise clinics and procedural sessions when doctors are ill or on leave

Enter Medibill information

Distribute all results to referring doctors

Maintain database to track referrals and expiry dates; follow-up current referrals

Relieve other booking clerks when on leave or when demand is excessive

Skills & Experience

Previous experience in health/hospital essential
