Position Summary

Palm House is seeking a skilled and dependable Engineering Technician to join our Maintenance team. This position is responsible for maintaining the overall appearance, safety, and functionality of the property. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, with demonstrated experience in preventive maintenance—preferably in a hotel or resort environment. You will play a critical role in ensuring that all guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas are well-maintained and align with Palm House’s high standards of quality and presentation.

Key Responsibilities

Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks on guest rooms, equipment, and building systems (HVAC, plumbing, lighting, and electrical).

Maintain and update maintenance logs to ensure compliance with the property’s preventive maintenance program.

Inspect and service tools and equipment to ensure proper operation and safety.

Support energy conservation and efficiency initiatives throughout the property.

Conduct maintenance inspections and repairs for arrival rooms.

General Maintenance & Repairs

Troubleshoot and repair minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical issues.

Respond promptly to work orders and resolve maintenance issues efficiently.

Ensure all maintenance areas are clean, organized, and safe.

Assist in major repairs, projects, and installations as needed.

Safety & Compliance

Follow all OSHA, fire, and safety regulations while performing work.

Maintain knowledge of hotel emergency procedures and participate in safety drills.

Ensure all equipment and workspaces comply with health and safety standards.

Qualifications & Experience

Minimum 3 years of experience in general maintenance, painting, and repair work—hospitality or hotel experience strongly preferred.

Working knowledge of preventive maintenance programs and basic building systems.

Familiarity with tools and materials used in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and painting trades.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.

Excellent time management and organizational skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a professional demeanor.

Must be reliable, punctual, and flexible with scheduling (may include weekends, evenings, or holidays).

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds without assistance.

Frequent standing, walking, kneeling, stooping, climbing ladders, and bending throughout the shift.

Comfortable working at various heights and in confined spaces.

Must be able to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Manual dexterity for using hand tools, power tools, and other equipment.

Salary: $27/hr
