Basic Job Functions The Shift Electrician is responsible for planning, installing, programming, testing, and troubleshooting electrical machinery and automation systems. The role requires diagnosing process and equipment problems and taking appropriate corrective actions. Additionally, the electrician assists with general facility functions to maintain plant operations, working rotating shifts.
Safety is paramount at Nucor; candidates must demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications
Ability to read electrical schematics
Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems and equipment
Proficient in the use of electrical test equipment
At least 2 years of related industrial electrical or automation experience in a manufacturing facility OR equivalent electrical training OR equivalent military experience
Preferred Qualifications
Three or more years of related industrial maintenance and automation experience in a manufacturing facility OR equivalent electrical training OR equivalent military experience
Experience performing routine and corrective maintenance on motors, controllers and process measuring devices or equivalent training
PLC and HMI programming experience
Hydraulic and pneumatic experience
Solid knowledge of electrical principles
Practical understanding of drives and motors
