Mar Petcare is looking for a Micro Sanitation Tech to join our exciting Nutro business at one of our manufacturing plants located in Kansas City, Mo. Purpose Of This Role / Summary
Responsibility for maintaining a clean and sanitary production facility.
This role specializes in sanitation and pest control for the entire site to provide a clean, safe and orderly environment that exemplifies a world‑class manufacturing facility.
Principal Accountabilities
Assist all areas in maintaining high levels of daily cleanliness and adherence to site GMPs.
Prioritize work daily by identifying pressing issues, communicating with operators, and considering shift production plans.
Promote a high‑quality team environment through effective teamwork, self‑management, and a positive attitude.
Perform assigned activities and job tasks within your area.
Understand production schedules as they relate to shutdowns.
Perform detailed cleaning of large areas and workspaces.
Perform detailed cleaning of manufacturing equipment.
Apply microbiological and pest‑control knowledge pertinent to a food manufacturing environment.
Collaborate with all teams on Sanitation, Pest Control and Housekeeping projects.
Work in enclosed spaces.
Work as part of an interactive team in a large plant setting.
When assigned to a specific operation area, complete all duties safely and efficiently.
Execute sanitation duties per the Master Sanitation Schedule, with attention to lock‑out/tag‑out procedures and required documentation.
Assist the plant in meeting or exceeding production goals.
Educate others on sanitation principles.
Receive micro training and understand cross‑contamination hazards.
Develop detailed knowledge of plant process flow.
Understand traffic, air flow and color‑code system.
Every associate at Mars is responsible for quality and food safety.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Physical Requirements
Capable of working at elevated heights.
Able to lift 50 lbs repetitively.
Not unusually sensitive to chemicals (contact lenses not recommended).
Vision correctable to 20/20.
Able to stand on feet for long periods.
Stand on concrete floor.
Wear personal protective equipment (hair net, bump cap, ear plugs, safety shoes, uniform).
Perform bending, stooping, twisting, turning, standing for extended periods, reaching, climbing stairs.
Adapt to temperature and environmental extremes (heat, cold, dust, chemicals).
Forklift assignments require OSHA certification and frequent get‑on/get‑off.
Work with minimal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications
Be 18 years of age or older.
Have a high school diploma, GED or equivalent.
Willing and able to work varying shifts and schedules.
Understand and communicate effectively in English.
Work with minimal supervision.
Excellent written and verbal communication (English).
Computer skills.
Very good interpersonal skills, ability to influence, motivate, and work in a team environment.
Self‑motivated.
Good working knowledge of HACCP & food safety.
Excellent working knowledge of production equipment, site layout, sanitation tools, and preventive maintenance.
