The Data Center Technician is responsible for supporting critical aspects of the Client’s data center ecosystem with a focus on resiliency, redundancy, and high availability of infrastructure supporting core operations. This role requires collaboration with internal stakeholders, external vendors, suppliers, and partners to ensure data center operations meet defined requirements and compliance standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Support new installations and migrations of IT hardware, cables, power distribution, and ancillary components.

Conduct maintenance and system upgrades requiring infrastructure changes.

Diagnose, repair, replace, and escort vendors for hardware failures and remediation activities.

Decommission legacy hardware and complete reconciliation processes.

Maintain and install support infrastructure (cable trays, PDUs, shelves, etc.).

Perform copper and fiber terminations (Fiber Quick Connect Termination Procedure).

Document data center and infrastructure processes, including DCIM installation and upkeep.

Update DCIM with new systems, modifications, and removal of old systems.

Label all hardware and cables; support HVAC, conduits, and related systems as needed.

Coordinate and escort visitors/vendors for Data Center as a Service (DCaaS) activities.

Ensure compliance with Client’s safety standards and security protocols.

Respond to normal and high-severity incidents promptly.

Collaborate with Facilities to coordinate maintenance and inspections of service hardware.

Perform complex troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, solution development, and implementation.

Provide additional support duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Ability to work professionally with individuals across disciplines and varying technical skill levels.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Basic knowledge of fiber, copper, and power cables.

Basic knowledge of air handling hardware, generators, and fire suppression systems.

Basic knowledge of electrical systems (PDU & UPS), lighting, HVAC, and chillers.

Ability to follow written procedures.

Must pass security background check (Client/NERC standards).

Must accept and pass random drug testing per Client policy.

Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 40 lbs.

Positive attitude with adaptability to changing demands.

Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Project, Visio, and Outlook.

Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Active mobile phone for work-related communications (FTEs will be provided a phone).

Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

Reliable personal vehicle; ability to drive to different Client worksites.

NICE-TO-HAVE SKILLS

IT certification.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Associate’s degree or higher in IT-related field.
