The City of Aiken is accepting applications for a Utilities Technician to join our Engineering & Utilities Department.
Responsibilities
Checks water leaks, determine the severity and reports their findings to the Utility Coordinator and/or Supervisor
Performs pressure checks when customers have pressure issues
Completes SCDOT encroachment permits when needed and turns them into Engineering
Turn in proper paperwork to the Utility Office personnel
Enter information into the GIS system
Is on call for the Utility Department
Performs general clerical work as required
Other assigned duties as needed
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent
Two to three years Utility experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
Ability to understand and follow verbal instructions
Interpersonal skills necessary to be courteous of fellow employees, citizens, and businesses while performing repair and maintenance duties
Be familiar with operating and entering information into the GIS system
Have knowledge and understanding of SCDOT encroachment permits
Valid state issued driver's license in good standing
