Event Coordinator
at
Michaels Stores

MODESTO, CA .
Responsibilities
Plan and coordinate multiple events simultaneously, including children’s birthday parties and craft classes.
Engage with clients of all ages, fostering a fun and creative environment.
Demonstrate and instruct party participants in craft projects, face‑painting, and other activities.
Implement party add‑ons such as goody bags, balloons, and other company‑standard items.
Communicate event details with clients and store team members.
Perform administrative tasks such as answering emails, making phone calls, and completing paperwork.
Adjust event plans based on client feedback and needs.
Develop backup or emergency plans as necessary.
Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events.
Set up, break down, and clean up before and after each event, maintaining company safety and cleanliness standards.
Customer Experience
Assist customers in locating products and provide solution‑focused support.
Deliver a fast and friendly checkout experience.
Promote and enroll customers into the Rewards program and Private Label Credit Card.
Encourage participation in Voice of Customer (VOC) surveys.
Support omni‑channel processes, including BOPIS and SFS.
Participate in truck unload, stocking, and planogram activities.
Execute merchandise recovery, in‑stock optimization, and shrink‑sales programs.
Adhere to SOPs and company policies.
Model respect, positivity, and professionalism toward colleagues and customers.
Cross‑train in custom framing selling and production.
Maintain daily store cleanliness, including sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and restroom upkeep.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Energetic, enthusiastic personality.
Ability to handle job stress and interact effectively with guests and coworkers.
Excellent people, verbal, written, and listening skills.
Experience working with children and children’s events.
Strong organizational and creative problem‑solving skills.
Retail and/or customer service experience required.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods, move throughout the store, bend, lift, carry, reach, and stretch.
Lift heavy boxes, access high shelves using ladder or similar equipment.
Work in a retail store setting with possible outdoor tasks, nights, weekends, and early mornings.
Work Environment
Climate‑controlled public areas; some stock rooms may not be climate‑controlled.
Tasks include handling glass cutters, heat presses, and retrieval of shopping carts.
Work hours include nights, weekends, and early mornings.
Compensation Total base pay range: $17.25 – $20.30 per hour.
