The Finishing Operator is responsible for processing orders according to customer specifications, ensuring the correct materials and dimensions are utilized. They maintain machine settings and tension, handle stock pooling and returns, and report any issues to management. They maintain data integrity in SAP.

Key Responsibilities

Follow finishing orders to process all orders according to customer specifications.

Convert the proper materials for each customer order, including color and label checks.

Confirm roll widths before starting each order and verify roll lengths after conversion.

Apply the correct machine settings and tension for each order.

Pool material from stock and return excess material.

Report any finishing order issues to the appropriate management.

Process all information in SAP using the correct scrap codes.

Manage offcuts according to the Precise Program.

Collaborate with material handlers to minimize downtime.

Ensure all outgoing customer rolls are in pristine condition.

Hold half/full respirator required for cross‑training.

Promote a safe, clean, and organized work environment.

Operate a sit‑down forklift (required).

Other duties as required.

Skills and Abilities

Effective communication – collaborate clearly with operators, sales, and team members to ensure smooth production flow.

Math skills – utilize basic math skills for tasks such as interpreting production specifications.

Quality control – possess a keen eye for detail to conduct thorough quality inspections and identify defective sections.

Safety compliance – demonstrate a commitment to safety of cutting tools, machine blades, and slitting machine safety.

Physical abilities – meet the physical demands of the role, including static pull strength of 84 lbs., push 60 lbs., lift 50 lbs., standing for duration of shift, and maintain finger dexterity.

Mobility – maintain sustained focus for an extended period.

Technical skills – possess basic computer skills to operate production‑related software and maintain digital records. Forklift experience.

Continuous improvement – maintain a process optimization mindset.
