NERC Certified System Operator - Exciting Relocation Opportunity

Overview of the Role Join a leading clean energy organization as a NERC Certified System Operator in the scenic Great Falls, Montana area. This critical role offers the opportunity to manage sophisticated electric operations for a Fortune-tier utility company driving North America's renewable energy transformation. Relocation support included for qualified candidates.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor and operate electric transmission and distribution systems in compliance with NERC standards
Execute switching orders and manage system configurations to maintain grid reliability
Coordinate with Balancing Authorities and neighboring utilities for real-time operations
Respond to system emergencies, outages, and abnormal conditions with sound technical judgment
Maintain accurate logs and documentation of all operational activities
Implement NERC RC and BIT requirements for reliability coordination
Participate in rotating shift schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and field personnel for system optimization
Required Skills & Qualifications Required:
NERC Certification:
Active NERC RC (Reliability Coordinator) OR NERC BIT (Balancing, Interchange, and Transmission Operator) certification required
Experience:
1-5 years of electric utility operations experience
Technical Knowledge:
Strong understanding of power system operations, SCADA systems, and grid reliability principles
Relocation:
Must be willing and able to relocate to Great Falls, MT within 30-45 days of offer acceptance
Availability:
Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
Decision-Making:
Proven ability to make sound operational decisions under pressure
Preferred:
Balancing Authority (BA) experience with NERC RC or BIT functions
Experience with renewable energy integration and battery energy storage systems (BESS)
Knowledge of Western Interconnection operations
Familiarity with EMS/SCADA platforms and energy management systems
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related field
