Advanced Practice Provider

The physician extender collaborates with the physician and other health care professionals to provide medical services including direct patient care, medical record documentation and follow-up care. The Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner operates within the standards of care and scope of practice as defined by the State of Arkansas.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs comprehensive exams of patients related to men and women’s health issues.
Identifies differential diagnoses and establishes priorities of care for the presenting problem.
Assists in the development of a treatment plan and appropriate follow up care.
Communicates pertinent patient information to the supervising physician.
Educates the patient about the diagnosis and treatment plan.
Orders, interprets, and evaluates tests.
Obtains informed consent for all procedures.
Exercises prescriptive authority as outlined in Arkansas statutes.
Documents patient visit appropriately in the electronic medical record (EMR) and/or according to the guidelines established by each individual location in which the care is provided.
Maintains patient confidentiality per HIPPA requirements.
Keeps current on new knowledge gained from conferences, workshops, professional literature, or other training and assimilates this knowledge into clinical practice.
Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
ARPN or PA-C from accredited graduate program.
Nurse Practitioners:
Current license or eligible for licensure to practice as an Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber in Arkansas
Physician Assistants:
Current license or eligible for licensure by the Medical Examining Board(s) of Arkansas
