This position will work closely with the Superintendent and the 1st Golf Assistant with general turf maintenance and playing conditions of the corresponding golf course for the Fargo Park District. This position will repair and maintain irrigation systems, assist with chemical applications, and maintain accurate records related to turf maintenance, operate, and maintain equipment associated with turf maintenance and assist with training and supervision of seasonal staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assist seasonal staff with completion of daily work assignments; make field decisions regarding job procedures, work standards and equipment use. Train seasonal staff on operating, maintenance, and servicing of equipment to ensure operational standards. Application of pesticides, fertilizers, and other chemicals related to turf maintenance as directed by the Superintendent or 1st Golf Assistant Report all issues with the irrigation system to the Superintendent or the 1st Golf Assistant. Assist with the operation and repairs of irrigation systems. Operate and maintain all equipment related to golf course maintenance in a safe and efficient manner. Assist with the setup of the golf course and equipment daily. Perform other duties as presented by the Superintendent or the 1st Golf Assistant. OTHER FUNCTIONS
Keeps direct supervisor promptly informed of key/significant issues or concerns. Maintain a professional working relationship with full and part-time staff. Carries out duties and responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner to maintain safe work environment and surrounding area for oneself, co-workers and public. Responds to hazardous situations and/or potentially unsafe conditions by taking corrective action as capable and promptly notifying supervisory personnel. Performs related duties as assigned or apparent. Due to the seasonal nature of this position, winter job assignments are described in the winter portion of the park maintenance job description. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Two-year degree from an accredited institution in Turf Management with one to two years of experience in turf maintenance. Or Minimum of three years of experience in golf course maintenance. CREDENTIALS/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
Must possess a valid driver’s license. Must have or the ability to obtain within six months of hire, a North Dakota Pesticide Applicators license, and a Class B CDL with Tanker Endorsement.
