Under the direction of the Supervisor, Environmental Services, the Environmental Services Technician I is responsible for the following:

Cleaning and maintaining buildings/facilities. Performs heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, spot clean carpets, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish.

Establishing and maintaining effective communication and working relationships.

Complying with all safety, security, compliance, and quality standards.

Environmental Services Technician I must be flexible and willing to complete all tasks that are assigned.

Education & Requirements

Minimum two (2) years of relevant experience required

High School Diploma or GED required.

In lieu of a high school diploma or GED, a minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience is required

Key Qualifications

Must have a valid California Driver's license and valid automobile insurance. Must qualify and maintain driving record to drive company vehicles based on IEHP insurance standards of no more than three (3) points

Basic knowledge of operating janitorial equipment and supplies

Knowledge of safe use of cleaning chemicals, trash disposal and recycling management

Knowledge of sanitation and disinfection procedures

Able to perform general housekeeping such as washing, waxing / polishing floors, dusting, sweeping, and vacuuming

Possess active listening and clear communication skills

Able to safely operate standard equipment required for the position

Ability to use all necessary tools and equipment required to complete all duties and jobs

Ability to follow safety guidelines when using required chemicals, equipment, tools, and techniques while performing job duties

Ability to work without direct supervision

Ability to accept performance feedback in a professional manner

Ability to maintain a consistent regular attendance record

Often works indoors which includes an office environment, stairwells, and other areas inside the building. May occasionally work outdoors and outside walkways with exposure to wind, sun, and varying temperatures. May be exposed to contaminants like cleaning solutions, bloodborne pathogens, and hazardous chemicals and should wear protective clothing such as gloves
