It is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all North Carolinians, providing human service needs for special populations including individuals who are deaf, blind, developmentally disabled, and mentally ill, and helping poor North Carolinians achieve economic independence.**Description of Work**We are currently recruiting for multiple Clinical Substance Abuse Counselors to function as a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialists at Central Regional Hospital (CRH) in the Department of Psychosocial Treatment (PST).
The primary purpose of this position is to provide evidenced based substance use group therapy, assessment, and individual therapy for adult patients, though some work with adolescents may be required. The role of this position is primarily as a group counselor but may also provide individual counseling by referral and assessments for patients with substance use history, for diagnostic purposes.**Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences****Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences**Salary Grade Range: $45,926.00 - $80,369.00Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement.The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:* Considerable knowledge of evidence-based group treatment for substance use* Considerable knowledge and practical application of advanced therapeutic approaches, group dynamics, crisis intervention, and trauma focused therapy* Considerable knowledge of medical terminology, disease processes, and their treatment as they relate to decisions regarding clinical interventions and appropriate therapies based on medical or psychological diagnoses* Thorough knowledge of the substance abuse addiction processes, including psychological and physical withdrawal* Thorough knowledge of assessment tools for addiction disordersThis position is Exempt from certain provisions of TheThis position is designated as mandatory and *must* report or stay over during adverse weather events.**Working hours:**Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 5:00pm with flexibility**Minimum Education and Experience**Some state job postings say you can qualify by an “equivalent combination of education and experience.” If that language appears below, then you may qualify through EITHER years of education OR years of directly related experience, OR a combination of both.
