Responsibilities

Manage and merchandise the deli department for maximum productivity and profit.

Order, receive, and manage inventory controls to maintain product quality.

Coordinate production, merchandising, and sales through planning, direction, goal setting, and teamwork.

Lead a high‑performing team that delivers exceptional product quality and customer service.

Coach, evaluate, and develop team members; conduct bi‑annual performance reviews and recommend merit increases.

Attend and actively participate in in‑store meetings.

Recruit, interview, hire, and make promotion/transfer decisions in collaboration with the Store Manager.

Address Team Member concerns and take corrective actions, including coaching, counseling, progressive discipline, and, if necessary, termination.

Create and adjust schedules to ensure staff levels meet productivity and service goals.

Communicate standards, expectations, policy changes, and product knowledge.

Operate and maintain deli equipment; ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.

Track weekly sales reports, order products and supplies, and meet company gross‑profit goals.

Collaborate with Store Manager, Assistant Store Manager, and Assistant Deli Manager to achieve store and department success.

Serve as Key Carrier for the store and/or act as Manager on Duty (MOD) as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum 18 years of age, 2 years of supervisory experience and 2 years of deli department experience (or the equivalent).

Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Working knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers, and financial goals.

Outgoing, friendly demeanor with a positive attitude toward Team Members and customers.

Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to give and receive direction in a team environment.

Strong focus on detail, analytical abilities, and problem‑solving skills.

Excellent organization and planning skills; able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.

Food Safety certification; ensure compliance with federal, state, and company regulations.

Physical ability to lift/carry up to 70 lbs. (both horizontally and vertically) and stand continuously for up to 4 hours (8‑hour shift).

Operating a slicer, wrapper, and cooking equipment; maintain equipment in safe working condition.

Perform other related duties as assigned.
