Job Description Regional Trainer will oversee Handlers to ensure cargo screenings comply with TSA rules and regulations.
Responsibilities
Provide supervision and training to assigned Handlers and canines related to operational searches and training.
Perform canine training, audits and administrative deliverables as required for assigned Canine Teams.
Schedule and conduct recurring training teams for recertifications and remedial, sustainment, and advancement training.
Provide temporary certified Handler duties as required for the program.
Participate in CCSP related training to search cargo and identify explosive threats.
Perform temporary Handler duties while commanding a trained explosive working dog as required.
Maintain training records, care, and maintenance of assigned certified canine; ensure the canine can live inside the employee’s residence which must be adequate, indoor, climate‑controlled, and subject to recurring inspections.
Develop and follow established training protocols in accordance with statements of work and SOPs.
Arrange operational exercises to replicate real‑life scenarios, enabling canines to work independently in high‑pop density environments with people moving to and from mass‑transit environments.
Transport, secure, and account for canine training aids, equipment, company vehicles, canine trailers, and other resources.
Assist when needed in instruction of new Handlers and Trainers.
Maintain all job‑related certifications and required security clearances.
Be willing to operate company vehicle.
Travel up to 70% to contract locations nationwide.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
U.S. citizenship is required.
Minimum of five years of experience training canines and teams in explosive detection.
Three years of documented experience handling an explosive detection dog in an operational environment.
Prior supervisory experience preferred.
Ability to obtain a Known Traveler Number (KTN) within four‑to‑six weeks of employment.
Adequate transportation to transport assigned Canine and Crate inside the vehicle to/from assigned work location; vehicle must have operational climate control.
Pass applicable Contract Testing and Certifications for program within four‑to‑six weeks and maintain them.
Demonstrated experience solving training problems, knowledgeable of canine training principles, conditioning and standards.
Valid driver’s license and a clear driving record for the last three years.
Effective oral and written communication skills at all levels of the organization.
Strong organizational skills to manage time and multiple priorities to completion.
Analytical problem‑solving skills.
Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
Physical ability to lift and carry items up to 100 lbs, stand, sit, walk, run, climb, squat, stretch, bend, and kneel in all weather conditions, with constant use of hands and fingers.
