Summary This role requires a deep understanding of electrical systems and equipment, and the ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain these systems. The electrician must have the sound judgment to make decisions when a situation dictates, while maintaining alertness and constant awareness of the safe operation of equipment and surroundings. Open communication and productive work relationships with team leaders, operators, laborers, mechanics, other electricians, supervisors, and shift managers are key to success. This position requires work both inside and outside the facility, depending on tasks.
There are two plant facilities that make up the Moses Lake Production Campus. The selected candidate for this role will begin their training at one of these facilities and then be assigned to one of the two locations after training is complete.
This position offers a $1,250 sign‑on bonus and up to $2,500 in retention bonuses.
Key Responsibilities
Repairs and maintains electrical systems and control systems on equipment.
Troubleshoots and repairs equipment, electrical networks, control panels and other control system components.
Interfaces with supervisory personnel about equipment conditions and difficulties in the electrical system.
Maintains, repairs, and installs plant lighting.
Utilizes electrical/electronic prints/schematics, ladder logic, plant computer systems, the current National Electrical Codes, and test equipment to complete assigned tasks.
Takes electrical line calls on shift and performs and completes all jobs as assigned.
Enters and performs work on work orders; plans and schedules additional work as needed.
Understands the purpose of Preventative Maintenance and Predictive Maintenance and participates in these programs.
Maintains work area in a clean and functional condition.
Locates parts and references part numbers.
Accurately enters data into computer and into daily paperwork in a timely manner.
Ensures attendance and participation in training activities appropriate to the position.
Typical Education
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
5+ years related experience and/or training.
Other Information
Must have a working knowledge of basic electrical safety practices.
Must have an understanding of DC voltage systems (0 to 240 V) and AC voltage systems (24 to 480 V).
Must have a working knowledge of the National Electrical Code.
Must be able to use voltage testers, meggers, amp probes, and other electrical test equipment.
Demonstrate the ability to do basic math, compute rates, ratios, percentages, read tape measures, and use calipers.
Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English in a manner that successfully performs job duties.
Must have computer skills.
Can safely lift up to 50 pounds; able to work in extreme environments: hot, cold, wet, and slick floors.
Can climb stairs, ladders, catwalks, and maneuver in close quarters.
Uses appropriate personal protective equipment such as respirators, SCBA, and safety harnesses as needed.
Has complete understanding and safe operation of hand, power, and shop tools.
Can read and understand basic electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
Makes own hand tools available.
Rate of Pay: $30.89 - $42.26 DOE
