The City of Altoona is seeking a Part‑Time Human Resources Assistant to support the operations of the Human Resources Department. The successful candidate will assist with various departmental administrative tasks, including employee record management, compliance with HR policies and procedures, applicant screening, interview scheduling, preparing and editing correspondence, and analyzing data for reporting.

Responsibilities

Employee record management and record keeping

Ensure compliance with HR policies and procedures

Screen applicants and schedule interviews

Prepare and edit correspondence

Analyze data and prepare reports

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalency (Associate’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred)

Prior experience in an administrative or HR support role

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, strong Excel skills, and familiarity with office/HRIS software

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Ability to work professionally and collaboratively within a team environment

Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to multitask while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information
