Broken Tart hiring a Head Baker/ Kitchen Manager. Broken Tart is a sister-owned and operated bakery and cafe specializing in cakes, bakes and delicious coffee. The Kitchen Manager is the heart of our BOH team. This person models efficiency, organization, cleanliness, productivity, and consistency, and is a true team player. The kitchen manager leads the team, manages weekly prep lists and production schedules, oversees product development, and ensures quality and consistency in all production.
The kitchen manager trains new team members, coaches existing team members for efficiency and productivity, and demonstrates flexibility and a can-do attitude to jump in wherever necessary. This role manages product and ingredient inventory and proper storage methods, places multiple orders weekly, and adjusts ordering based on production needs within the monthly budget.
The kitchen manager is professional, a strong leader, organized, and a successful multi-tasker with thoughtful, solution-oriented communication and collaboration.
Responsibilities
Hands-on leadership and contributions to daily prep
Weekly administrative duties, order placing & inventory management
Proficiency in all BOH recipes, roles, checklists and responsibilities
Models & trains successful behaviors for team members including cleanliness, teamwork, efficiency, organization, sanitation, food safety, recipe accuracy and prep consistency
Oversees staff hiring, interviews and training
Fosters a positive, collaborative team environment
Is a culture carrier for Broken Tart among customers and team members
Conducts check-ins with team members and consults with management on annual performance reviews
Follows and ensures compliance with all procedures, methods, recipes, checklists with management to improve systems as necessary
Holds team members accountable to bakery standards, cleanliness, productivity and standard job responsibilities
Oversees accurate ordering, receiving, labeling, storing, and FIFO-ing of all product inventory
Collaborates with management to plan holiday menus and execute holiday production
Oversees holiday production schedules
Oversees daily quality control and takes necessary corrective steps to maintain high product standards
Oversees research & development of new products, conducts recipe audits and adjustments, and encourages the R&D process with the BOH team
Ensures kitchen and workspaces are clean, organized and sanitary
Ensures compliance with sanitation regulations and requirements
Job Details
Full-Time Position 40 hours per week
Weekend flexibility and holidays are required
Weekly schedule Tuesday-Saturday (subject to change)
Start times may vary, as early as 5am
Salaried. Varies based on experience. $58,000-$62,000
