The Opportunity We are collaborating with manufacturing firms in Grand Rapids that are seeking skilled CNC Machinists. These organizations are dedicated to maintaining high standards and are looking for professionals who can contribute effectively. Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate CNC machines (mills, lathes) according to specifications.
Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and G-code programs.
Inspect finished parts for quality using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers).
Load and unload raw materials and finished components from machines.
Monitor machine operations, making adjustments as needed to maintain part accuracy.
Perform routine maintenance on CNC machinery and keep the work area clean.
Troubleshoot and resolve minor issues or machine alarms during production.
Recommended Qualifications
Proficiency in operating and setting up CNC mills and/or lathes.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and G-code/M-code.
Skilled in using precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, bore gauges).
Strong understanding of tooling, feeds, speeds, and various materials.
Solid knowledge of shop math and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
Bonus Qualifications
Proficiency with CAD/CAM software.
Experience operating advanced metrology equipment (e.g., CMM, optical comparator).
Demonstrated understanding of lean manufacturing principles (e.g., 5S, Kaizen).
Basic machine maintenance and troubleshooting skills.
Experience in fixture design or optimization.
