Coordinator, FutureReadyNYC Green Pathways Position Summary:

New York City Public Schools (NYCPS) has outlined a bold vision to reimagine the educational experience for all NYCPS students so they graduate with real‑world skills, a headstart on postsecondary, and a strong plan to launch them on a rewarding career and long‑term economic security. The Office of Student Pathways (Pathways), under the leadership of the Chief of Student Pathways, is tasked with driving the administration’s bold vision to reimagine the student experience through Career‑Connected Learning (CCL) so that by 2030: 100% of NYCPS students will enter high school with skills in financial literacy and computational thinking and have explored careers of interest.

FutureReadyNYC (FRNYC) is the flagship initiative of the administration to ensure students are prepared for strong careers in high‑growth, high‑wage industries. Reporting to the Senior Director, FutureReadyNYC, the Coordinator of Green Pathways will work to ensure coordination between Community Based Organizations (CBOs), curriculum developers, schools, employers, and an ecosystem of partners developing pathways to strong careers in the HVAC, Decarbonization and Green Jobs sector.

The Coordinator will focus on operationalizing the city’s PlaNYC commitments toward climate action, sustainability and scaling an inclusive green jobs workforce. This role will coordinate across a growing portfolio of FRNYC Schools implementing HVAC/Decarbonization pathways and a portfolio of schools committed to embedding sustainability education and exploration of green careers in their high school learning experience. In consultation with the Senior Director of FRNYC and the Office of Student Pathways team, the role will coordinate resources to ensure the model is implemented with fidelity, supporting schools in meeting FRNYC sequence completion targets. The work centers around coordination within and across data, progress monitoring and coaching schools to deliver within and across each of FRNYC’s core components: Career Connected Instruction, Early College Credits and Credentials, Work‑Based Learning (including apprenticeships), Financial Literacy and Personalized Advising.

NYCPS principals, district teams, City University of New York (CUNY), State University of New York (SUNY) educators, and others involved in building career and college hubs and new school models.

Responsibilities

Coordinating across portfolio of HVAC/Decarbonization FutureReadyNYC Schools

Serve as the single most important point of contact for all schools implementing FRNYC Green Pathways.

Support the Senior Director in coordinating efficient use of resources, including budget and spend‑down monitoring aligned to Key Implementation Measures.

Assist with FutureReadyNYC designation for existing schools and the application process for new schools.

Support data reporting and student enrollment submissions, review data on multiple measures of quality implementation, and make recommendations for school offboarding where appropriate.

Ensure coordination across coaches so that all schools within the green FRNYC portfolio progress along Key Implementation Measures (KIMs).

Coordinate across schools and Pathways teams to ensure accountability metrics around enrollment, engagement and completion of early college credit and credentials, work‑based learning, financial literacy and pathway advising are tracked and met.

Coordinating Capacity Building for FutureReadyNYC HVAC/Decarbonization Schools

Coordinate closely with Academic/Pathway Instructional Coaches and /or consultants on the development and delivery of curriculum to serve all student populations.

Coordinate and plan professional learning opportunities and coaching to strengthen school‑based implementation and career‑connected fidelity across all FRNYC program components.

Coordinate with stakeholders to deliver communities of practice; provide more frequent technical assistance sessions such as office hours.

Modeling Development and Stakeholder Engagement

Support school recruiting and selection, career‑connected pathway development, career‑connected fidelity and sustainability in green pathways.

Organize stakeholder engagement that results in the development of employer‑validated programming.

Coordinate new partnerships in response to the needs of schools implementing career‑connected green pathways, and manage/expand existing effective partnerships with employers, higher‑ed institutions, philanthropic organizations, vendors, and other external stakeholders.

Support the Senior Director in coordinating vendor relationships.

Coordinating information

Collaborate with various NYCPS offices including Academic Policy, DIIT, Research and Policy Support Group, Legal, Teacher Recruitment and Quality.

Support implementation of cohesive communications strategies coordinated with larger CCL and Pathways Communications.

Collaborate with the wider FutureReadyNYC team under the Senior Director to create effective structures and develop short‑, mid‑, and long‑term planning aligned to the team goals and outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications

A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two (2) years of experience in community work or community‑centered activities in an area related to the duties; or

High school graduation or equivalent and six (6) years of experience in community work or community‑centered activities in an area related to the duties; or

Education and/or experience equivalent to either of the above options. All candidates must have at least one (1) year of experience as described in option 1.

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated commitment to equitable outcomes for all students and a track record of advancing this goal through professional work.

Experience in customer service and working with employers.

Expertise in career and technical education, postsecondary success, community development programs and/or workforce education.

Experience in the private sector or building relationships with employers and CBOs.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Deep understanding of youth employment and/or youth development issues.

Familiarity with career‑focused education and workforce development programs.

Strategic thinking and the ability to translate insights into action; project management experience.

Ability to organize facts and present information and figures in a clear, concise, and logical manner, both spoken and written.

Creative problem‑solving with the ability to perform independent, thoughtful analysis around important educational issues.

Salary:

$82,000 – $90,000 Internal candidates selected for this position who currently hold comparable or less senior positions within the DOE will not earn less than their current salary.
