Legal Practice Assistant – Litigation (Los Angeles, CA - Hybrid, 2–3 days in the office) Full‑time, non‑exempt role supporting a high‑level Trial and Litigation Group in Los Angeles. Provides comprehensive administrative and litigation support to attorneys handling complex, high‑profile matters in California state and federal courts. Reports to firm administration; no direct reports.
MUST‑HAVES
Minimum 7 years
of experience as a
Legal Secretary or Legal Assistant
Litigation experience in California state and federal courts
(required)
Strong knowledge of
court rules, filings, TOAs/TOCs, and calendaring
Experience supporting
trial and litigation attorneys
High School Diploma is required. Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

What you’ll be doing
Drafting, reviewing, and revising
legal documents , including pleadings, correspondence, memoranda, and reports
Formatting and filing documents in
California state and federal courts
(electronic and in‑person)
Preparing
Tables of Authorities (TOAs)
and
Tables of Contents (TOCs)
Managing attorney calendars and deadlines using
legal calendaring systems
(e.g., CompuLaw)
Coordinating closely with attorneys, staff, and peers to ensure compliance with best practices
Maintaining composure, accuracy, and efficiency during
high‑volume and deadline‑driven work
Supporting litigation matters from
initial pleadings through discovery, motions, trial, and appeal
Utilizing legal technology and document management systems efficiently
Providing professional, courteous communication with clients and internal teams
Practice areas you’ll support

Land use and First Amendment claims

Qualifications
High School Diploma required;
Bachelor’s degree preferred
7+ years
of legal assistant or legal secretary experience
Prior
California litigation experience required ; appellate experience is a plus
Strong ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Proven ability to prioritize, anticipate needs, and meet tight deadlines
Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem‑solving skills
Compensation
$48.08 – $54.80 per hour , depending on experience
