Description
Job Title: Site Technology Technician Position Function: Reports to the Building Principal. Exhibits exceptional knowledge and skills in computer repair, networking and troubleshooting. Works with the Site Technology Specialist (STS) to ensure that technology positively impacts student achievement through curriculum integration and staff development. Models effective, efficient, legal and ethical use of technology throughout the building. Assists the STS in maintaining the technology hardware/software and network infrastructure within the site, and provides level one technical support for staff and students. The Site Technology Technician has the ability to carry out assignments and perform work of excellent quality with a minimum of supervision.
Essential Performance Responsibilities
Works under the supervision of the Site Technology Specialist (STS).
Displays a high skill level and technical expertise relating to computer technology, networking and other functions of the assignment.
Conducts in-service training activities for building personnel regarding the proper use and maintenance of computer equipment and software.
Meets specified deadlines and confers with STS to assure the satisfactory execution and completion of a specific job.
Works cooperatively with others in order to maintain a harmonious and efficient operation.
Coordinates with STS and district support organizations on technology issues for the site:
Determines with the STS priority
Tracks backlog of requests
Escalates problems as necessary
Performs workstation hardware/software setup and maintenance to include:
Hardware upgrades and installs
OS installs and updates
Software installs and updates
Repair of hardware components, working with the STS for the appropriate warranty replacement work
Serves as a resource for troubleshooting technology systems issues (hardware, software, network).
Demonstrates understanding of site network topology.
Performs network administration:
Assists the STS as necessary in managing student and staff user accounts and network shares
Installs and manages server-based applications, as necessary
Performs network troubleshooting of switches and network drops in classrooms/offices, escalating problems if necessary
Performs all other duties as required by the STS.
Additional Duties:
Assists with additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
Equipment:
This position may require the ability to use SMART boards and iPads in addition to basic office equipment such as computers, copiers, scanners, and fax machine. Must always comply with USD 259's guidelines for equipment use.
Travel:
Limited travel between schools and central offices may be required.
Physical And Mental Demands
Work in standard office environments
Occasional overtime
Attendance at required meetings
Additional demands upon request of supervisor

Ability to communicate both verbally and written in order to communicate with others inside and outside of the organization for the purpose of giving and obtaining information
Ability to communicate effectively with a Supervisor when their discretion is needed

Ability to plan, organize, make decisions and prioritize work to meet the daily demands of the building
Exhibit a professional manner and a positive attitude
Use good judgment to make decisions on recurring assignments
Display a significant degree of professionalism and confidentiality
Ability to conform to proper standards of professional dress and appearance
Knowledge of company's mission, purpose, goals and the role of every employee in achieving each of them
Qualifications
Contact with personnel within the district and with customers and vendors
Will be working under the direct supervision of the department supervisor in order to complete day to day tasks
Will be working with a diverse population requiring the ability to handle all situations with tact and diplomacy
Must understand and respond appropriately to customer needs and maintain a positive attitude with all customers and colleagues
Expected to interact with all internal and external customers in a friendly, professional manner and provide quick, responsive customer service
Qualification Profile
High School Diploma or GED required
4 years related experience preferred
Technical training in computer repair, A+ or related
