Processing Machine Operator at Asher's Chocolate Co.

Position Summary Responsible for the operation of specified machinery in the assigned area, with a primary focus on the molding line. The operator is directly responsible for the safe operation of melters and tempering units, and for documenting critical quality information throughout the shift to ensure the operation is running within the specified parameters regarding product appearance, weight, and tempers. The successful Processing Operator will assess equipment reliability and perform routine repairs, adjustments, and malfunction troubleshooting.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Work in a safe and efficient manner.

Identify the correct molds for the daily production run and watch for loose molds.

Ensure appropriate materials are available and issued based on molding needs.

Confirm ZERO cross‑contamination, especially for products containing peanuts.

Follow SQF and GMP policies and guidelines.

Operate and maintain machinery, equipment, and tools safely and proficiently.

Perform routine inspections and determine repairs/maintenance to prevent breakdowns.

Use ERP system (ROSS) to issue and return raw materials to production jobs.

Take corrective actions to resolve production problems to the root cause.

Coordinate with sanitation to properly sanitize machinery after each order.

Make repairs within scope or utilize maintenance when necessary.

Assist with maintenance and sanitation during equipment or product changeovers.

Use Microsoft Teams to keep Packing and Demand Planning informed of downtime risks.

Maintain accurate records of production reports, inspection reports, downtime logs, and other documentation.

Work with urgency and a can‑do attitude.

Clean enrobing areas and perform washouts during shutdown periods.

Assist department manager with production scheduling and associate assignments.

Initiate purchase orders for parts or supplies needed in the department.

Maintain proper temperatures and weights of all molded products.

Change monthly magnetic chocolate filters.

Clean the molding line and depositors when time allows.

Work Environment / Physical Demands Employee will perform duties in a manufacturing environment with daily exposure to noise, dust, and temperature ranging from 60‑100 °F. Requirements include bending, stooping, twisting, turning for an 8‑hour shift, walking on hard surfaces for 8 hours a day, and lifting up to 50 pounds.

Authorities

Oversee production and stop production if product does not meet quality standards.

Direct other associates to ensure quality product production.

Accountabilities

Responsible for machine condition and communicating any issues to supervisor.

Ensure efficiency, operational conformance, product quality and continuous improvement.

Verify correct chocolate, temper, weight, and material issuance before starting an order.

Maintain strong attention to detail.

Record data hourly while maintaining a clean production area.

Qualifications The ability to read, write, and comprehend in English.

Ability to perform basic math calculations – add, subtract, multiply, divide.

Education High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.

Experience 1‑3 years of manufacturing experience, preferably with operation of production machines.
