Solid Waste Collection Operator – CDL Class B – $5,000 Hiring Bonus

This position offers a competitive pay range of $26.00 – $32.00 per hour (based on experience), overtime opportunities, a generous benefits package, and a $5,000 hiring bonus for eligible new hires.

Location & Schedule Work is performed on‑site and in the field throughout the City and County of Denver.
Training lasts 5 days a week.
After training, the schedule is a four‑day, 10‑hour shift per week with regular overtime opportunities, based out of one of the three campuses: Central Platte, Cherry Creek, or Roslyn.
Responsibilities
Safely operate a solid waste collection truck (rear loader, side loader, front loader, roll‑off, and other equipment) to collect waste, recycle, or compost along a designated route and transfer it to a disposal site.
Load and unload waste and recycling materials at landfills, recycling centers, or similar facilities. May handle special assignments such as collecting dead animals or bulky items.
Read and interpret route maps to plan efficient collection routes.
Identify and tag unsatisfactory waste containers according to departmental procedures.
Respond to public inquiries courteously and provide information within the area of assignment.
Complete daily pre/post‑trip inspections as defined by federal guidelines.
Assist in preventative maintenance of equipment by washing and servicing vehicles.
Prepare routine operating reports (material collected, miles driven, fuel used).
Report uncollected refuse and complete collection reports accurately.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Graduation from high school or possession of a GED, HiSET, or TASC certificate.
Minimum of two (2) years of general labor experience, including at least six (6) months driving light to medium‑sized equipment.
Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B with all appropriate endorsements at time of application.
Background check, physical exam, and drug test required.
Proficient in English for all written and spoken communications.
Ability to work in varying conditions (inclement weather, dust, fumes, etc.) and read/write route maps.
Willingness and ability to work overtime when needed.
