Job Description Lead our communications strategy and be the voice of Housing Catalyst!
As our Communications Manager, you’ll develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies that amplify our mission and drive organizational growth. This strategic role combines high‑level planning with hands‑on execution across digital communications, media relations, event management, and stakeholder engagement.
What You’ll Do:
Develop and implement comprehensive communications strategies defining key audiences, channels, and messaging aligned with organizational strategic goals
Serve as primary organizational spokesperson for media inquiries and manage crisis communications protocols
Translate complex housing, development, and regulatory issues into clear, compelling communications for policymakers, partners, and community stakeholders
Directly supervise Communications Specialist including performance management and professional development
Create major agency reports including Annual Report, community impact reports, and regulatory compliance documents
Oversee website governance, content management, social media strategy, and digital analytics reporting
Support public policy advocacy efforts by creating educational materials that align with organizational positions
Develop executive communications including speaking points, issue statements, presentations, and briefing materials
Coordinate communications for external events, VIP engagement, and community partnership activities
Maintain brand standards, trademarks, and logos for Housing Catalyst and associated properties
Lead communication plan development for department projects with external audiences
Represent Communications department on Leadership team and participate in strategic planning
Requirements

Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or related field
Minimum 7 years of strategic communications or public relations experience
Minimum 5 years in supervisory or senior communications capacity
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
Essential Skills:
Expertise in content management systems, website analytics, and backend website administration
Advanced knowledge of brand management, crisis communications, and media relations
Experience translating complex policy issues for diverse audiences
Proven supervisory experience and budget management capabilities
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Google Analytics, and social media management tools
Technical Requirements:
Strong computer skills (MS Office Suite)
Content management systems (WordPress, Drupal, or similar)
Website analytics platforms and email marketing tools
Ability to learn new software programs as needed
Other Requirements:
Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for events
Resident of Larimer or Weld County, CO
