NBCUniversal is seeking a Manager of Transportation to join the Studio Operations team in Universal City, CA. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and supporting a team that includes Local 399 Class A/B/C drivers, dispatchers, mechanics, and service personnel. You will oversee vehicle rental scheduling, help process accounts payable and receivable invoices, manage a fleet of production vehicles, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and build strong relationships with production teams, including Television and Features, as well as internal departments.

This position requires an independent, self‑motivated individual who can effectively support and enhance daily operations while leading by example. You will work closely with the local studio operations teams and collaborate across off‑site locations to drive success.

What You’ll Do

Mentor, guide, and assist a direct team that is responsible for fleet management, mechanical work, Class A/B/C drivers, operations support, and billing administration

Manage operations and staff members to ensure compliance and proper mitigations are in place to support company policies and procedures, safety rules, and state and federally mandated regulations such as registrations, motor carrier permit compliance, IFTA, Tax obligations, and vehicle registrations

Develop and maintain relationships across the production spectrum including direct crew, finance, management, and other internal business units

Maintain production fleet, including ongoing fleet analysis to maximize utilization of owned, leased, and rented vehicle fleet to meet intercompany production requirements by capturing all transportation requirements for all NBCU Universal Productions

Review financial reports and process alignment, ensuring billing and AP policies are in place, while addressing billing and invoice disputes for accuracy and timely processing

Coordinate with the Accounts Payable Clerk and Billing Supervisor on month‑end/quarter‑end accruals and physical inventory reporting

Lead CapEx processes, including preparing business cases, Capital Requests, ROI analysis, tracking and managing of your purchases, and reporting progress across these areas

Plan, implement, and measure budgets, developing KPIs which meet operational targets

Manage performance of employees with emphasis on productivity, efficiency, and OCF

Lead special projects across Operations teams to support Compliance, Sustainability, Safety, and general Operations

Qualifications What You Must Have:

4+ years of experience in managing a transportation division for studio operations, broadcast, or production environment

2+ years of experience managing staff, setting, and maintaining schedules and performance measurements

2+ years of experience supporting or leading in a union environment, including knowledge of contracts

1+ years of experience managing complex budgets including capital projects

Strong understanding of USDOT federal regulations

Familiarity with California and federal compliance standards, including CARB, IFTA, and Cal OSHA

What Would Make You Stand Out

Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent professional experience

Experience in our Transportation Management System, Transworks

Experience in our payment processing system, Sphere

Experience cultivating relationships with corporate and finance team members, production crews, unit production managers, transportation coordinators and transportation captains

Ability to understand, analyze, and interpret compliance regulations and to make recommended courses of action

Highly effective management skills and strong leadership presence necessary to operate in a highly pressurized studio production environment

Ability to multi‑task and drive operations in a fast‑paced environment and willingness to respond to any situation 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

Geographic knowledge of the Los Angeles Area, and local Production Studios

Strong computer skills, including complex reporting capabilities (extracting large amounts of data and creating actionable reports)

This position is required to be performed full‑time from an NBCUniversal‑designated worksite.
