Ideal Candidate The Quality Control Specialist is a hands‑on individual contributor responsible for daily quality decisions for driving within our pump manufacturing operations. This role focuses on identifying quality issues, implementing corrective actions, conducting root‑cause analysis, and working directly with production teams to enhance product quality and manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate is a self‑motivated problem solver who thrives in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment and can translate data into actionable improvements.
Quality Control & Inspection
Conduct visual and dimensional inspections for receiving, random batch, RMA, and special requests
Perform inspections on incoming and outgoing materials using precision measuring equipment (CMM, calipers, micrometers, thread gauges, height gauges)
Use Optical CMM to determine dimensions and material analyzer for material verification
Determine critical dimensions by analyzing mating surfaces and part functions
Verify pump builds and other equipment are in accordance with specifications
Inspect and identify incoming products, routing them to appropriate locations within the facility
Perform functional testing and pressure testing on pumps and components
Quality Data Analysis & Continuous Improvement
Collect, analyze, and track quality metrics including defect rates, scrap rates, and customer complaints
Generate regular quality reports and identify trends requiring corrective action
Implement permanent corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to address quality issues
Initiate and execute Lean Six Sigma projects to reduce variation, eliminate waste, and improve first‑pass yield
Follow written protocols, procedures, and maintain data sheets and task boards
Documentation & Reporting
Develop reports of first article inspection results
Create test procedures, test reports, and failure analysis reports
Generate quality document packages for outgoing products
Develop and maintain quality internal inspection manuals for internal and 3rd‑party qualifications
Process and file all vendor quality documents for future reference
Create Non‑Conformance Reports (NCR) when required for vendor or customer issues
Advise why parts may be nonconformant and recommend appropriate disposition
Systems & Process Management
Make appropriate receiving and inventory moves within ERP system
Assist in identifying and labeling parts and inventory locations
Support design and implementation of barcoding/labeling system for inventory and locations
Develop and adhere to testing protocols for existing and new products
Advise Quality team of tools required or suggested enhancements to optimize work
Recommend appropriate methods needed for non‑standard inspections
Audits, Compliance & Safety
Conduct internal process audits and layered process audits (LPA)
Support external customer and certification audits (ISO 9001, API, etc.)
Ensure compliance with quality standards and industry regulations
Support health and safety compliance initiatives, ensuring adherence to OSHA standards
Perform all daily work safely and in full compliance with safety standards
Supervise tests at vendor facilities when required
Work with purchasing and supply chain to address supplier quality issues
Train production personnel on quality requirements, inspection techniques, and measuring equipment
Participate in cross‑functional teams for quality improvement projects
Education
High School Diploma required; Associate degree in Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, or related technical field preferred, OR equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience
Minimum 3–7 years of hands‑on quality experience in a manufacturing environment
Experience in pump manufacturing, fluid handling equipment, or heavy industrial equipment strongly preferred
Inspection Equipment Mastery : Expert‑level proficiency with CMM (including optical CMM), calipers, micrometers, thread gauges, height gauges, indicators, and other precision measuring instruments
Blueprint Reading : Mastery in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, technical specifications, datasheets, cut sheets, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
Problem‑Solving : Demonstrated experience with root‑cause analysis methodologies including 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone diagrams, and FMEA
Computer Skills : Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), ERP systems, and quality management software
Mechanical Aptitude : Strong mechanical skills and understanding of mechanical mechanisms, pump components, and assemblies
Attention to Detail : Exceptional attention to detail with ability to identify defects and dimensional variations
Communication : Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to effectively communicate technical information across all organizational levels
Self‑Motivation : Self‑motivated, responsible, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
Multi‑Tasking : Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize effectively in a fast‑paced environment

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or related technical field
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
ASQ Certified Quality Technician (CQT), Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA)
Proficiency in all aspects of quality systems, including ISO 9001:2015 and similar benchmarks
Previous knowledge of positive displacement pumps or centrifugal pumps
Experience with API standards or other industry‑specific quality standards
Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and advanced quality tools
CMM programming experience
Experience with SolidWorks or other CAD software
Initiative & Ownership : Self‑starter who takes ownership of quality issues and drives them to resolution without constant supervision

Ability to walk, stand, crouch, bend, kneel, lift, carry, and reach in large, high, and/or tight spaces
Physical ability to lift and carry inventory items within OSHA recommendations
Exposure to manufacturing noise, machinery, and temperature variations
Safety glasses, steel‑toed boots, and hearing protection required in plant areas
Must maintain a clean and organized workstation and work area at all times
Occasional travel may be required to customers, suppliers, and company facilities
