The Role Plans, organizes, directs, and reports on all supplier quality-related activities such as raw materials, packaging materials, GMP service providers, contract manufacturers, and laboratories to ensure fulfillment of contract/purchase order requirements. Translates engineering, manufacturing, and quality requirements. Assures compliance with customer quality‑imposed technical requirements and maintains a quality system. Conducts programs to improve supplier performance, productivity, and process validation. Prepares, maintains, and reviews procurement quality assurance procedures. Reviews and analyzes corrective action reports and purchase orders to reduce and eliminate defects. Monitors quality control activities and systems at supplier and subcontractor facilities, maintaining feedback loops. May administer a certified supplier program or related programs in receiving inspection, perform third‑party audits, due diligence, vendor selection, deviation investigations, and quality issue investigations. Requires frequent use of industry practices in electrical, machinery, structural, HVAC equipment, and quality inspection capacity.
Must Have • Must attach a resume.
• Education and experience: High School diploma/GED with eleven (11) years of experience, Bachelor's Degree with three (3) years of experience, or Master's Degree with one (1) year of experience; equivalent combination of education and experience may be used.
• Minimum five years experience as a Journeyman in Electrical, Machinery, Pipe, Hull, or Castings in a shipyard or marine setting.
Nice to Have • Prior technical skills and experience in shipboard electrical & electronics, HVAC equipment systems installation and operation, machinery, structural, piping, and castings.
• Quality experience in inspections and audits preferred.
• Proven leadership, communication, and relationship skills – ability to deal effectively with all levels of Ingalls representatives, customer representatives, and supplier representatives.
• Experience in a marine setting and environment preferred.
• Any outside certification in a shipyard or marine discipline is also preferred.
Additional Qualifications
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
Experience working with cross‑functional teams.
Experience interfacing with both internal and external customers.
Ability to inspect confined spaces, stooping, crawling, bending, and climbing ladders and stairs when required.
Ability to read blueprints.
