Maintenance Manager Company: CertainTeed

Location: Williamsport, MD

Why do we need you? The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the Maintenance team to ensure that the plant operates efficiently and safely, minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity. The incumbent directly manages the Maintenance Supervisor while indirectly managing the Maintenance Technicians (mechanical, electrical, multi‑craft) and SAP Coordinator. The Maintenance Manager leads maintenance‑oriented improvement projects across the facility.

Essential Functions Environmental, Health & Safety

Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.

Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the maintenance team.

Teach and improve safety systems and procedures for employees and contractors, such as LOTO, permits to work, safety audits, etc.

Ensure regular safety audits and equipment inspections are completed.

Maintain good housekeeping practices following 5S systems and enforce plant rules and safety regulations.

People Management

Foster a TEC (Trust, Employment & Collaboration) culture within the Maintenance Team.

Manage, mentor, train, and develop the Maintenance Supervisor and support indirect reports, including Technicians and SAP Coordinator.

Serve as backup to the Maintenance Supervisor for daily activities such as timesheet approvals, flex holiday and vacation requests, and overtime management.

Budget & Inventory Management

Manage the maintenance, repair, and overstock (MRO) budget.

Oversee maintenance department expenses, labor, and payroll hours, monitoring and controlling costs to stay within budget.

Maintain an inventory of spare parts and equipment, ensuring availability for repairs and replacements.

Project Management & Continuous Improvement

Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement solutions.

Lead and participate in plant‑wide continuous improvement initiatives.

Participate in CAPEX projects and leadership initiatives.

Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in maintenance technology.

Perform root cause analysis and implement sustainable countermeasures on losses related to maintenance.

Analyze and stratify accurate data to prepare reports and statistics supporting reliability improvement.

Support the management team in projects, company demands, and other tasks as needed.

Is This Job For You?

A High School Diploma or GED is required.

10 years of Maintenance Supervisory experience, preferably in an industrial manufacturing environment.

10 years of Maintenance experience (mechanical & electrical), in an industrial manufacturing environment.

3 years of experience managing CAPEX projects.

5 years of experience managing department budgets.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams).

Proficiency in SAP software.

Excellent problem‑solving capabilities and ability to work independently on managing projects.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong leadership and team management capabilities with the ability to make informed decisions under pressure.

Work collaboratively with other departments and external partners.

Detail‑oriented with a focus on quality and efficiency.
