Surgical Critical Care Fellowship Program Director . The Program Director is responsible for the administration of the Surgical Critical Care Fellowship, directly reporting to the Designated Institutional Officer (DIO) and the Chair at the primary training site. The role includes protected, non-clinical time for program management. The fellowship is a one-year program for two fellows, accredited by the ACGME. Established in 2017 through a strategic partnership among Creighton University, St. Joseph's Hospital, Valleywise Health Medical Center, District Medical Group, and Dignity Health Medical Group, the program is sponsored by Creighton University School of Medicine - Phoenix. Clinical training occurs primarily at Valleywise Health Medical Center, with rotations at other sites including St. Joseph Hospital, Mayo Clinic Arizona, among others. Our mission is to train future leaders in hospital-based, ambulatory, and subspecialty surgical care, fostering inquiry and collaboration. The program offers a dedicated burn surgery training pathway. Essential Responsibilities: Administer and maintain an educational environment aligned with ACGME core competencies. Oversee and ensure quality didactic and clinical education. Develop and review curriculum. Monitor fellow supervision across sites. Coordinate educational activities for visiting fellows. Ensure accurate and complete reporting to ACGME, including annual updates. Collaborate on accreditation matters with DIO and GMEC. Ensure compliance with institutional policies. Promote fellow well-being and foster diversity, equity, and inclusion. Participate in fellow recruitment, program evaluation, and serve on committees. Develop communication channels with fellows and faculty. Work with stakeholders to optimize schedules and clinical workflow. Oversee remediation processes. Provide semiannual performance evaluations with feedback. Evaluate and engage faculty based on performance. Supervise clinical units and teach surgical fellows. Minimum Requirements: MD or DO with certification in Surgical Critical Care. Current medical licensure and appropriate hospital appointment. Experience in surgical education or administration. Active clinical and academic involvement in surgical critical care. Arizona medical licensure eligibility. Ability to obtain hospital privileges. Strong communication skills.
