St. Michael’s Medical Center in Newark, NJ is seeking a Board-Certified / Board-Eligible General Surgeon to join an established hospital-employed surgical program.
This opportunity offers a flexible, paid call schedule and a practice focused primarily on bread‑and‑butter general surgery in a supportive clinical environment.
Position Details
Competitive base salary
Paid call coverage
Full benefits package including malpractice with tail, health benefits, retirement, PTO, and CME
Location
Newark, NJ
Convenient access to NYC, major highways, and public transportation
Responsibilities
Call: 1 week per month, flexible and paid
Practice Model: Employed
Case Mix: Predominantly core general surgery
Appendectomy
Cholecystectomy
Hernia repair
Bowel procedures
Abscesses and emergent general surgery
OR Access: Dedicated block time
Support: Strong anesthesia, hospitalist, ICU, and specialty backup
Qualifications
BC/BE in General Surgery
Interest in core general surgery procedures
Team-oriented and patient-focused
New graduates and experienced surgeons welcome
